  • Associate Vice President or Vice President, Finance

    Rubenstein is seeking an Associate Vice President or Vice President, Corporate & Financial Services to develop and generate public relations strategies, programs and media presence across a range of clients, including: hedge funds, private equity and asset management firms, financial institutions and corporate governance-related issues.

    A background in public relations in the financial services sector is required. Knowledge of the financial industry and the capital markets, with an understanding of a range of investment vehicles, is preferred.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Craft and implement public relations strategies and programs for clients in the financial services space; convey clients’ messages through a full range of earned and owned media
    • Write creative and effective press materials, campaign plans and communication materials; create digital media strategies and develop content
    • Lead media relations efforts and secure media opportunities for clients; pitch to media and generate client coverage across traditional and digital outlets on local and national levels; engage in both proactive and reactive media relations management, including breaking news opportunities and trend stories
    • Continuously cultivate effective relationships with relevant media outlets
    • Contribute to the development and research of strategic communications plans and messaging for clients
    • Motivate junior team members by reviewing work and providing prompt and constructive feedback
    • Participate in brainstorming sessions to develop broader strategic initiatives for clients
    • Participate in the new business process; sell ideas to prospects, clients and internal stakeholders; manage, retain, and organically grow clients

    KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to quickly digest / understand complicated matters and help boil them down to key messages / actions
    • Ability to understand complex financial issues and reports and articulate these into subjects of interest for the media, as well as demonstrated skill in handling C-suite issues and executive positioning
    • Strong relationships with media outlets on local and national levels; proven record in delivering PR results across print, online and broadcast
    • Demonstrated proficiency and affinity for social media / digital tools and platforms, and the eagerness to learn and stay current in the digital space; understanding of the intersection of traditional and social media and how different outlets can serve different purposes
    • Outstanding writing and presentation skills; proven ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people and audiences; agility and versatility to stretch across client sectors; ability to effectively present work to colleagues and clients at all levels
    • Ability to prioritize, manage time, multi-task and move quickly with efficiency and attention to detail while ensuring deadlines are met in a dynamic, creative, challenging and fast-paced environment

    EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

    • Title will depend on experience; 7+ years prior work experience required (i.e., public relations, journalism, marketing, or corporate communications)
    • Direct publicity experience in the financial services sector is required
    • Knowledge of the financial industry and the capital markets, with an understanding of a range of investment vehicles, is preferred
    • College degree required – preferred focus in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English or related field

  • Associate Vice President, Public Relations Generalist

    RUBENSTEIN seeks a talented, motivated and dynamic Associate Vice President, Public Relations Generalist to provide strategic counsel and media relations for a variety of clients across multiple sectors including, but not limited to, non-profit, cultural institutions, sports, science, and high-profile events.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Craft and implement strategic, publicity-oriented media plans and communications programs for clients, involving media relations, strategic positioning and planning, message development, and influencer engagement
    • Pitch to media and execute long-range communications strategies that raise the profile of the client and its executives, securing coverage with regional and national publications
    • Efficiently write creative and effective press materials, campaign plans and communication materials
    • Serve as a day-to-day client contact, where appropriate, continually fostering client-agency relationship, building trust, and anticipating and addressing client needs
    • Cultivate, establish and maintain working relationships with all levels of national, local and trade media
    • Assist in planning and overseeing the coordination of large-scale media events, including organizing logistics, staffing and managing press
    • Draft messaging and talking points for senior management presentations, including preparing executives and talent for press interviews
    • Nimbly work well within a collaborative team account structure; actively mentor an array of junior staff and guide their ability to meet deadlines, enhance skills and cultivate media relationships
    • Oversee content creation on social media and the distribution of press materials across platforms

    KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

    • Excellent, demonstrated writing skills, with documented ability to craft press releases, media pitches, in-depth PR plans, and strategic communications materials (AP Style knowledge a plus)
    • Strong relationships with media outlets on local and national level; proven record in delivering PR results across print, online and broadcast
    • Strong communications and presentation skills with the ability to communicate with a diverse group of people and audiences; agility and versatility to stretch across client sectors, and the ability to effectively present work to colleagues and clients at all levels
    • Demonstrated proficiency and affinity for social media / digital tools and platforms, and the eagerness to learn and stay current in the digital space
    • Ability to think critically, creatively and develop new and interesting ideas
    • Ability to manage time, multi-task and move quickly with efficiency and attention to detail while ensuring deadlines are met
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; focused on team success and collaboration
    • Familiarity with day-to-day tools such as PowerPoint, MuckRack, Cision, Meltwater, etc.

    EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

    • 6+ years of client and media relations experience at a PR agency or on an in-house communications team is required
    • College degree required – preferred focus in Communications, Journalism, English or a related field

  • Senior Vice President or Executive Vice President, City / Nonprofit

    Rubenstein is seeking a Senior Vice President or Executive Vice President, City / Nonprofit Practice.

    The SVP or EVP will conceive, implement and counsel public relations strategies and programs for clients, and will provide broader strategic counseling by delving fully into the challenges and issues of client business. The SVP or EVP will be responsible for oversight of content creation, dissemination of press materials and managing media relationships while cultivating strategic media relationships. The SVP or EVP will be responsible for maintaining client health and supervision and development of staff. The SVP or EVP will actively engage in the cultivation and generation of new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Serve as trusted client advisor with full understanding of client’s business and needs
    • Provide strategy and counsel for developing comprehensive public relations programs that can address complex issues
    • Provide input to senior management on time, budgets, assignment and utilization of staff for client projects
    • Lead, encourage, mentor, and develop staff members; provide guidance to team members on effective pitching, team issues, account workflow and general account issues
    • Manage and delegate responsibilities of daily workflow of own accounts while driving consistent media results
    • Work with account and business development teams to build incremental business opportunities
    • Participate in external company promotion through such activities as articles, speeches, presentations and professional memberships to increase the firm’s visibility in marketplace

    KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

    • Deep understanding of city government, including but not limited to education, health care, veteran’s affairs, public safety, transportation, and housing
    • Familiarity of non-profits and foundations a plus
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills along with ability to prioritize and multi-task in a dynamic, creative, challenging and fast-paced environment
    • Ability to think creatively and develop new and interesting ideas
    • Proven ability to use social media platforms to achieve client objectives and communication strategies
    • Knowledge of land use is a plus
    • Proven success in managing client relationships
    • Demonstrated ability to:
      • Develop and implement strategic communications programs
      • Leverage an established network of industry and media contacts
      • Utilize sector expertise to enhance client service
      • Manage and develop employees

    EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

    • Title will depend on experience; approximately 15+ years prior work experience required (i.e., public relations, journalism, marketing, or corporate communications)
    • College degree required, preferred focus in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, Political Science or related field
    • Developed sector and industry experience required with versatility to work across multiple sectors
    • Agency experience is a plus
